— A Visit to the Xu Beihong Memorial Hall Successfully Concluded
As autumn deepens, art warms the heart. On September 24, the seventh and tenth-grade newcomers of Beijing Xu Beihong Middle School embarked on a distinctive aesthetic education course at the Xu Beihong Memorial Hall. Immersed in an ocean of art, the students experienced the master’s legacy firsthand and profoundly felt his unwavering patriotic passion.
Upon entering the solemn and elegant memorial hall, the students were immediately immersed in a profound artistic atmosphere. Following the docent, they toured various exhibition halls in an orderly manner, carefully observing Mr. Xu Beihong’s precious paintings. Whether it was the freely expressive “Galloping Horse 《奔马图》” or the profoundly meaningful “The Foolish Old Man Removes the Mountains《愚公移山》”, each piece showcased the artist’s exquisite skill and distinct creative personality. Noticing the familiar galloping horse emblem on the students’ uniforms, the docent thoughtfully explained: “The horse symbolizes a spirit of forging ahead without hesitation. Through his horse paintings, Mr. Xu Beihong expressed his aspiration for the national spirit, imbued with deep patriotic sentiment.”
During the tour, guided by their art teacher, the students focused on completing their art handbooks. They sat on the floor within the memorial hall, concentrating intently as they sketched reproductions of the master’s works. With each stroke of their brushes and pencils, it was as if they were engaging in a dialogue with the master himself, transcending the boundaries of time and space.
The visit to the memorial hall served as a key component of the school’s distinctive moral education series, “Learning from Xu Beihong’s Spirit, Practicing an Artistic Life.” This immersive aesthetic education class not only effectively enhanced the students’ artistic appreciation but also sowed the seeds of patriotism deep in their hearts. Moving forward, the school will continue to carry out diverse art education activities, maintaining a deep integration of aesthetic and moral education, and is committed to cultivating a new generation of youth who are well-rounded in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education. It is believed that this intimate encounter with the great master will leave a profound mark on the students’ hearts, igniting their passion for art and their sincere devotion to the motherland.
