Xu Beihong ART & FENNESSY

2025 — MUSIC FESTIVAL — FENNESSY

“JunYing” draws inspiration from Xu Beihong’s *Galloping Horse*, with “the vigor of the horse, the form of its shadow, and the soul of its sound” as its core concept. It reinterprets the power and speed of Xu Beihong’s brushstrokes through modern design language. The glass horn makes its debut in this model, serving as the visual focal point of the device, with its warm glow embodying the color imagery of “the sunrise galloping horse.”

Music Traverses Light and Shadow

Swing with the rhythm of the music

The overall design merges Eastern imagery with modern aesthetics, integrating professional vinyl acoustics and a century of classic heritage into a single cohesive experience. The illuminated turntable creates an immersive listening ritual, while the galloping horse motif on the vertical surface of the unit is reimagined through minimalist symbolic forms. The new all-aluminum grille and knobs employ a multi-layered metal ceramic coating process that, under light, flows like molten gold and transitions to a gradient copper-brown in low light. This not only symbolizes vitality, the warmth of time, and the fiery gallop of the horse, but also aligns with contemporary avant‑garde color trends. As a result, traditional spirit and modern aesthetics are reborn through the interplay of sound, light, and shadow, achieving a uniquely Eastern yet thoroughly modern expression.

Xu Beihong’s “Galloping Horse” is a quintessential example of his artistic innovation. He skillfully integrates the precise anatomical understanding of Western sketching with the expressive spirit of Chinese ink wash painting, using concise yet dynamic brushstrokes to create the classic image of a majestic horse in full gallop. Created during the Anti-Japanese War, these works transcend the category of animal painting; the proud, swift-moving posture of the horse is imbued with profound contemporary significance, symbolizing the indomitable and striving spirit of the nation. These paintings inspire people to persevere through hardship and pursue freedom and progress.

In the Chinese zodiac, the horse occupies the seventh position, corresponding to the “Wu” (午) hour.
“Wu” embodies the peak of yang energy—a symbol of galloping momentum and utmost vitality.
Since ancient times, the horse has represented not only speed but also spirit, vigor, and the rising power of an era.
